Door skins

Has anyone swapped skins rather than replace the doors completely?
My doors are straight, no speaker holes, or flaws to the inside panels, but those camper mirror holes are all kinds of screwed up, plus I hate the big mirrors
Whats the best way to install, spot welder, mig it, or fuse them

I would think it would be easier to repair the area with the holes if the rest of the door is in good condition. Here's a link to a post in the Body & Paint forum that gives some good info on door skin replacement.
