Re: Bumper modifications?
Painted or chrome bumpers ? if painted you can mig and fill /paint. Chrome gives off some bad fumes and should be tig welded if you plan on re chroming the bumpers.

Re: Bumper modifications?
I don't think he cares which. All the things you have mentioned have been done. Now it's up to you to decide what you want to do. A thing I saw done years ago was cut the bumpers down to just the upper bulge with roll pans. In the end, you can't beat how one of the best body designs ever came off the line. I let the boys in GM's design dept customize my trucks

Re: Bumper modifications?
I went with painted bumper up front. Shaved and fog lights.

Re: Bumper modifications?
.
Lookup the Chip Foose Camaro inspired C10 bumpers for something completely different. -klb Those are pretty much what I described, but didn't use the truck bumper. I saw a guy do that idea 10 or more years ago

Re: Bumper modifications?
I'm a recovering minitrucker and always looking for something to mod... I've had minis with crazy angled plates, full cali combos, shaved everything, caddy lights, front end swaps, etc. I've stared at my 68 for years and simply can't come up with anything that looks better than a stock bumper tucked in tight. I may try to narrow it just a bit to tuck the ends in and shave the bolts, but that's as far as I'd go. I like all of the camaro-ish bumpers and roll pans, but while they look good they don't look any better than stock IMO.

Re: Bumper modifications?
I'm kind of wondering about this too.
I have a 68 that I am thinking about putting a 72 bumper on. I might use that and cut it up a bit as well. I have a big trans cooler behind the bumper laid down between the front frame rails that could probably use some more air. Was thinking the marker light holes might make good brake cooling duct holes. |
