c20,30 upper control arm bushings
Ok, I don't know why I can't find any little right ups or pictures on this, but I would love to see a walkthrough on someone replacing their upper control arm bushings on a c20 or c30 (tons of info on c10's is out there, but that doesn't apply to the 20 and 30 trucks).
Reason being, my truck has been left at my brother's place in TX, and when I go back for a few days, I'd like to be able to replace them, so I want to get a good idea of what to be prepared for. My guess is: Order control arm shaft kit from rock auto Jack goes under the lower ball joint to keep the spring compressed Then I'm not sure. Does the control arm have to be removed from the vehicle? If so: Break the upper ball joint free from the spindle Remove the two retaining nuts holding the control arm cross bar to the frame Remove the the upper control arm If not: Remove those end caps to the bushings with a 1 3/8" socket Remove the cross bar retaining nuts Work the cross bar out Can anyone give me a little direction here, or point me to a good writeup somewhere? Everything seems to be for c10's

The 73-87 C10's utilize different bushings vs. C20's/30's. Earlier model (pre 73) C10 upper a-arm rebuild steps would be similar to the 73-87 heavier duty trucks so that might help broaden your search.
Personally, I would remove the a-arm for rebuild purposes vs trying to work on it as installed. Also, when installing the threaded caps @ each end, try to keep them threaded equally front to back. It helps alignments remain more consistant.
