That # is either a 350 or 327..you need the # from front of passenger head to decode any deeper info..

all we can really tell you- without the stamping code off the front- is that its a 69-79 block and is 4 bolt if its a truck block(stamping code wil tell you that much)
the pad to look for and clean off is just above the timing cover ------------------ -71/C-10(thx teeitup and crews!)350 4+4/CH465(thx 71Chev, GMCPaul, and CPNE)longfleet bed(thnx meathead95)!still building it- -'84 Z28(Z28) 1G1AP87GXEL100000 with H.O. 305/4bbl/190net/hp(L69) 3.73 rear(GT4/YC4) 700R4(MD8-MXO) & other goodies -79 G20 pass van, 350/th350/10bolt, paint is overrated Randy- Lincoln, IL randy@ccaonline.com © RSS Enterprises 2000 |

3970010 is for sure a 4 " bore....as far as 4 bolt main,chevy did some different stuff through the 70s. A 3/4 ton ,or a 4x4 should be a 4 bolt,but a 1/2 ton is a story of its own..........69 longhorn

My book show's it as 67-76 350 or a 302 came in 2 or 4 bolt mains.
