4X10 to 6X9 speaker adaptor

I know this has been beat to death already, but 4X10 speakers sound like crap. They are just not a good size speaker. I found these looking for option to change the 4X10s to 6X9s in our Tahoe

http://www.crutchfield.com/S-G0WyeNp...&avf=N&search=

Do you think it would work for our trucks?

Why not add two small speakers in the same place that way you have 4 channel system you can use all 4 then?

take the 4x10 brackets, and switch them side to side. supposed to be able to clear 6x9s that way.

A friend of mine did the side to side switch trick and it worked out really well. He was able to fit some very large Pioneer 6X9s into the cab corners.

So these brackets will work if you swap sides? How does the 6x9 mount?

But if you're like me and you got only the single speaker it sucks.

Ken, those are not "77 correct" though.

I can see a judge docking points already!

Yeah thay may not be "correct" for 77, but neither is the bags and 20's. I have to put something in there. I want use OEM parts when I can even if they aren't "correct" for that year.

What years were these brackets used?

You just have to drill some new holes, and mount it to the spot the 4X10 goes. For some reason, those brackets don't look right. I have not looked at mine in a while, though.

No, they are the correct 81-87 brackets, they look identical to mine.

I can take some pics of mine with the 4X10s installed if that will help, but I suspect you guys are looking for the 6X9 conversion pics. I can't help you with that because my friend who did the conversion (Woodman @ Chevytalk) just bought a Dodge and gave the Chevy to his brother in another state.

Let me know if you would like pics with the 4X10...

Sure, that'd be great. I don't know how even the stock brackets mount.

Sorry. I'm having surgery tomorrow that will have me on crutches for the next 6 weeks. I have been really busy trying to finish everything I was originally planing to do during that period of time. <sigh>.

Driver's side speaker:

Passenger's side speaker:

This is a picture of the 6X9 brackets that will go in their place as soon as cornfed63 is finished copying them.
