Help! 67-72 Chevy Stepside Owners

Is the stepside bed lighter than the fleetside and will it accept a wider tire/wheel combo? I am wanting to install a 10.5" rear slick. Has anyone done this very concept? Pics would be great. Many thanks...

I'm sure it's lighter but not sure about the amount of room. For ultimate room use a step bed and put the fender humps in from a fleet bed. Then you'll have plenty of room for the tires and a nice light bed.
