Sold the 4x4 Longhorn Fantasy Truck Today

-
I really hated to let this one go but I have a couple of other projects I really need to finish, so down the road it went. I have had it for 6 or 7 years and had actually just started driving it regularly last summer. The guy that bought it has been trying to buy it from me ever since I started putting it together. He farms the land around my property and every Spring and Fall when he came over to work in the fields he would ask me if I had "his" truck done yet. When he came over to pick corn last fall he said he would be back with some cash after he got the crops in. I never saw anything of him until today and he showed up with a fist full of cash, and said he was going to drive the truck home. It didn't take long to come to an agreement with all that green stuff in front of my nose...

I know he will take good care of it. He said the first thing he was going to do was buy new wheels and tires. I didn't really like the wheels that were on it but I always had selling it in the back of my mind so I couldn't see buying anything for it, and just let the new owner pick out what he wanted.

Bye-Bye Longhorn.....

Man that’s a beautiful truck Leon. I’m guessing the fella that bought it will have a big smile on his face for a very long time.

Thanks Scott. He couldn't wait to get in and drive off in it. I had to chuckle at him.

Man that had to be tough. Sold my street glide last month and almost ran after the guy as he road out the driveway. Like you say you have more to do, but that doesn't always make it easy. At least you know the guy is case he wants to sell it back

Re: Sold the 4x4 Longhorn Fantasy Truck Today

At least it's not going far. You did tell him part of the deal was you expect to see it driving around, right? Also nice he has better taste in wheels. I love that truck. Got any tissues left or has the joy of green taken over?

When I look at a nice truck with contemporary wheel/tire combo and the owner proudly tells me how much he has into them. That's when I say, "Great! You can keep them and we can knock that off the price"

Thanks Guys. He lives 35 miles from me and I go to the cruise nights in Newton (his home town) so I think I will see it once in a while. He is also married to my neighbors sister. I am going over to his place this afternoon to take some extra parts I dug out for it.

Hey Tim, the color Green softens the blow for sure...

Rob, I figure you'd be the next guy in line wanting that gem. It had everything but your name on it.

Thanks Rob. It never made it to the All Truck Nats, I was going to drive it down in September if it was still here.

He had a nice one and sold it a few years ago. It has since found another good home.

Thanks Dale. I have something else up my sleeve if I live long enough to finish it...

Letting one go is definitely a tough pill to swaller. We become attached to an objet with all our plans and dreams for it. It sure was a nice one!

Leon, nice to hear he came through for you on it. Make him send you pics with his new wheel/tire combo. I'm betting your next project involves a dual rear wheel application?

I am going back over to his shop in a week or so if the weather ever straightens up. Right now a lot of the county roads are impassible because of the snow drifting.

Ryan, I think you are reading my mind....

Thanks Jim.

No I didn't, there again I wanted the new owner to put on what he wanted. He said he was going to put Sport Mirrors on it. I would have put stainless below eye line mirrors on it myself.

I’ll add to the list and say, man; that’s a beautiful truck. Wish I’d have had a shot at buying it!
