Re: 1966 hood light????????

Don't recall seeing under hood lights on trucks of that era back in the day. Some passenger cars yes, more so into the later 60's and on. For my '71 4x4 I used one of the corded reel lights I snagged from a early 90's truck in a salvage yard. With the cord reeled all the way out I can reach to the back of the bed and rear tire. Light housing has a magnetic pad that will attach to the bedside which works well if you have a flat. Just a thought and a possibility. If needed I can get a pic tomorrow of the light and where I mounted it.

Although I'd be interested in a pic of your install. Thanks.

Re: 1966 hood light????????

There were no underhood lamps for the trucks or Corvettes according to the Installation Manual. There's nothing restricting a dealer from retrofitting one under a truck hood though. Wired to the Voltage Regulator on passenger cars.

1962 Custom Accessories Installation Manual doesn't list one.

Re: 1966 hood light????????

Couple pics of the corded reel light pulled from an early 90s GM truck. l put one on my '71 4x4 and also one on the inner fender of my '71 Chevelle. Haven't really "NEEDED" either one yet but both operate and are ready for use.
