Coincidentally, a school friend was working on a house in my area and invited me over to pick up a mixed load of mesquite and catclaw acacia. Nasty little thorns all over the bark on the lattter -- pierce right thru your glove -- but I hear it burns well. Can't knock free firewood.

I love Mesquite, cook steaks and salmon on it. Neighbor gave me a gas BBQ grill, I ripped out all the gas components, and modified with smoke stacks, in the Dorky Cheapskate tradition.
