Front disc brake conversion line routing

All - On this 60 im working on, I bought a pre-made front brake line conversion kit.

Using the stock rear brake line, does anyone have picture of the front brake line routing during thier chassis build up or without a motor?

Are any of the locations difficult or I should be aware of? On my 64 impala i know I had to install new lines across the front and the rear line stayed in the same place, with the main line that went under the motor replaced. So in essence, there were now two lines running on the crossmember now.

I'm very interested in any replies as well, as I plan to do the conversion to disc in my 64.

Where did you get the front brake line kit ??

Re: Front disc brake conversion line routing

Don't know if any of this will help you because I went the cheap route and used ALL the Factory brake lines and proportioning valve (combination valve) from a 73 C-10. Here's what I have if that helps you any.

The second pic with the oblong hole - that's where the hard brake goes through the frame for the rubber flex hose. The 3rd pic is with the hard line in place.

Like I said - since I used ALL factory lines - the proportioning valve is in the 73 location - I did have to make a bracket to support & mount the proportioning valve in the correct location.

One more pic that oblong hole the first pic - this is where the flex line goes through, and attaches to the upper control arm and out to the caliper. I even completed the conversion by converting my 64 brake pedal to a 73 style.

Hey 64 shortbox...what rubber hoses did you use? im in the middle of putting a '86 suburban front end under my '63..and i noticed the oblong holes were a natural place to install the hoses.

Re: Front disc brake conversion line routing

lilpoindexter,
I used standard front brake hoses for a 73 C-10.The hoses came with the clamps to mount them to the upper control arm. The hoses also came with stamped lock nuts. I didn't like that so I went to the hardware store and picked 5/8-18 jamb nuts - I THINK they were 5/8"-24 - I did this swap about 5 years ago or more.

That's what I needed.

Looks like it provides lines for the front and rear. And for the rear, all the way across to tap into the rear line on the passenger side that heads to the back of the truck.

Re: Front disc brake conversion line routing

I recently did my lines with a kit I bought off eBay. Had a bunch of random lengths. Put the prop valve under the fan shroud similar to the square bodies.

Planned to use some scrap yard 73-87 lines but couldn’t find any that weren’t rough.

Decided to run a line across the crossmember to the PS front caliper and then took the rear line across the frame rail under the shroud.
