Hood Pins?
There have been a lot of thefts going on around here of Air cleaners and valve covers... I just bought some a few weeks ago, and want to protect my investment... Does anyone here have any info on what brand or whatever, hood pins will fit on an 85 chevy... I want the kind that lock with a key, so no one can get in... I know you have to open the hood already from the inside.. but some of the thefts have been like that.. AND they were robbed of stereos etc...
Also, if anyone has any pictures of trucks with hood pins, that would be great! Thanks!

i dont believe many people have hood pins on here. i am getting the cotter pin type just to hold the corners of my hood down because mine flexes when driving. as far as a key type i have not seen those. they do make them that are flush but havent seen a keyed version.

They do make the keyed version as well. A friend of mine put some on his Prelude. Not sure where he got them though or if they qould even work on our trucks.

Wound't a good alarm system (not a cheapie) work just as good? With a keyed hood pin, one might try to jimmie it with a screw driver, just to try or it might just advertise that there is something important under there. Just a thought.

People stealing valve covers?
Get a shotgun. or Install the valve covers with allen bolts, that might slow them down.

A guy in my club has hood pin/locks on his 79 C10. He put them on the top part of the core support, just drilled holes in the hood, I THINK there's holes already in the core support.

I was in Autozone today and over in the dress up section they had a couple of locking sets for right at $20.00. They had the keys like a coke machine uses. If this helps you might check out your local Autozone.
