Vent window handle removal
In the process of redoing my vent windows, I want to remove the roll pins to install new handles. Does anyone have an idea of what to use to drive the roll pins out with? Need something that is small, yet strong enough not to bend. Has anyone had any good luck using anything particular?

Re: Vent window handle removal
I have a can of old drill bits that I use for small punches. Grind off the shank from the twisted part of the bit and lock it in a needle nosed vise grip pliers. If you need a punch longer than the shank then use the whole drill bit with the point ground flat. It always works in a pinch to get the roll pins started moving. A good penetrant helps too.
Good luck, Russ |

Re: Vent window handle removal
if you don't have a small punch use a nail , it only has to come out far enough to grab it with pliers to pull it out .

Re: Vent window handle removal
There are roll pin punches with a small nipple on the end that keep them centered when driving thes pins out and back in. As well as there are starter ones to hold them when installing. If you have a hard time finding, look at Brownells online as they are great to have for firearms repair too. They are the proper, functional and fairly cheap tool. Amazon has them too. I have used the snot out of mine over the years.
