How to properly check fluid level for 400 turbo transmission

I have not owned a chevy in a long time. How do you properly check the fluid level for a 400 turbo transmission behind a chevy small block.

Do you check it while running and in park or neutral?

But not after an extended drive. Let it run for a few minutes, cycle through the gears, then check while still running.

Re: How to properly check fluid level for 400 turbo transmission

Only thing I can add to that is You must use a red shop rag to remove the fluid from the dipstick before you check the fluid level.

HeavyHauler I hope you got a Good sense of humor .
Looks like we have took the (Fluid ) dipstick and run with it.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.
