About to remove front clip - Hood on or off?
I'm about to remove the front clip on my 66 C10 to do my small block Chevy for 292 engine swap. I've read various opinions about leaving the hood on the clip or taking it off first, separately. I'll have plenty of help to remove it.
Opinions of each method? |

I took off my Rad support and grill support in one piece with no issues. There is a thread on here someplace. The inner fenders? Ya, you'll have to remove the hood to do that.
Okay here it is: https://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/...highlight=Hood

Re: About to remove front clip - Hood on or off?
I've done it with the hood and without the hood and also outer fenders and inner fenders pulled separately. My favorite method is to pull the hood, pull the fenders and front piece together and then pull the radiator support and the inner fenders together. I've pulled the clip 3 times now and have done it a different way each time

That sounds good too. The only reason I did it this way was because my hood adjustment is spot on and I dont want to screw it up. Took me about 25 times (with help) opening and closing the hood and adjusting to get it perfect.

Re: About to remove front clip - Hood on or off?
That's a great reason! I drilled a hole in the hinges to locate my hood and it's close enough but not perfect.

Re: About to remove front clip - Hood on or off?
Thanks all, great inputs here. I'll probably do the core support/radiator method, since that seems to be the least amount of work. I too, am all about easy. haha
