62 Front lower shock mount loose
I'm doing some front suspension work on my stock 62 - with torsion bars, and noticed that the lower shock mount was moving up and down in the lower control arm. The lower mount is a long bolt with a fixed nut and threads that go through the control arm and is held to the control arm with a second nut. The mount had no washers beside the nuts on either side of the control arm. I'm concerned the hole has elongated and will be "sloppy" even with washers on the mount. Is the mount supposed to be a snug fit to the hole in the control arm or should I just add washers and tighten it down? One thought is to drill the control arm and put a bushing in the hole? Any other thoughts?

Re: 62 Front lower shock mount loose
The hole should be a fairly close fit to the mount that passes thru it. If it is elongated, it will move and likely loosen up again. An easy fix would be to weld a bushing over the hole that is a tighter fit to the mount.

What Captainfab said. I've had to do it on both my '60 & '61.
