Brake Booster

Does it look I have the correct booster? C20 7500 GVW Drum all 4 corners. The reason I ask is the brakes work fine except I feel it takes too much pedal pressure. This is a factory power brake truck

Re: Brake Booster

That's what mine looked like before I upgraded to front disc brakes. Probably correct, then. Plug the vacuum line and see how much difference it makes. It might be going bad, that might help you tell.

Re: Brake Booster

That’s correct (looking.) I noticed my brakes were taking quite a bit of effort to stop effectively a while back. Kind of snuck up on me. Anyway, my front brake shoes were just very old and getting badly glazed. New shoes (and brake hardware) has it stopping really nicely. Not saying that’s your problem but definitely investigate.

That is actually a good possibility. Linings are most likely about 15 years old. Not many miles, but still wondering if linings actually get old. I think I'll pick up a set of shoes and see what difference it makes. At the same time clean and refresh the bearings.

Re: Brake Booster

Shoes are so cheap, makes sense to replace a 15 year old set if they’re suspect.
