Rear shock relocation question!

I just lowered my 1970 and I am wondering if I can re-use the upper shock mounts, punch the rivets out and mount them in a different location to give the rear shocks a more vertical position. Preferably leaving the lower mounts on the bottom of the control arm. Has anyone done this or is it easiest to just buy a relocation kit?

Re: Rear shock relocation question!

I did that very thing years ago. I moved the hole down one side and then trimmed the rest. Then bolted it back up.

Lightbulb Re: Rear shock relocation question!

Welcome aboard! Here is a link with some information on making new mounts.

How much is your truck lowered?

Go to the search box above and search for rear relocation, click the 67-72 bottom and there is a good chance someone in the past has done what kwmech did and posted it.

Good luck

Re: Rear shock relocation question!

I just so happen to be in the process of replacing the factory upper shock mounts. So I thought I would post one of the the mounts I made with the factory mount to show what is possible no matter which way you go.

Re: Rear shock relocation question!

For the best positioning, go with the ones that mount them at the rear of the trailing arm. 60-62 had that factory, and its the best mounting for shock angle and performance.

Re: Rear shock relocation question!

With seven inches of drop I think you have to go to the rear style mount like demain5 recommended.

Talking Re: Rear shock relocation question!

Here is a link for info on your shocks.

The No Limit relocater kit is awesome. I have it on my 71 and plan to order one for my daughters 68 we are building now. Rob is a member here as well and a sponsor.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.
