Holley Choke on '71 C-10
Don't let this happen to you...Coming off freeway off ramp at highway speed truck had throttle stuck open and could have caused terrible accident by plowing into stopped traffic ahead of me. Was able to get stopped and idled down manually, made it home taking back roads at idle speed. First thought linkage or throttle cable then finally saw that piece was broken off choke idle cam and was getting stuck in linkage. New part should be in today...a $10. plastic piece that should have been made of metal.

Wow!! Been around hot rods and classics my whole life and never seen an idle cam break! It must've just dry rotted.

Plastic doesn’t dry rot.
Likely carb got bumped or dropped against something and cracked. Holley wasn’t the only carb like that. Quadrajets had a high idle cam that was plastic. |
