Where would I find a good body tub?
Hello, my '71 would love to be on the road, but rust and my inept attempt at welding has stopped that dream. Were and how do I find good body's? I know I could buy a complete truck, but they are either in similar shape or good as they are. I'm new to this list so bear with me.
Thanks, Angus |

I ASSUME U WANT A BLAZER TUB, I WOULD LOOK AT CALIFORNIA FIRST,
THEN ARIZONA, NEW MEXICO, TEXAS, AND MAYBE FLORIDA. FINDING ONE RUST FREE IS VERY DIFFICULT UNLESS U BUY A RESTORED PROJECT. :p

Or you could take a half ton and cut the roof of the cab and section the bed floor like I am doing.

I'm trying to stay away from major welding. My current tub got misaligned when I welded and now the door openings are 1/2 inch too small for the doors to shut. I just cant see unwelding everything and trying again after I made such a pretty job of it.

1/2 in at the bottom by the rocker or at the top of the opening?
If at the top and the bottom is right, you might can adjust with spacers added to the body mounts. Seen a few post on this, might try the search. Not sure if you can get a 1/2 but might be worth a try.

Angus, add your location to your listing so that folks will know where you live. You never know who reads this stuff and sometimes just what you need is right around the corner. There is a listing on the "truck parts for sale" of someone in Mo with two parts blazers for sale for $1400. The picture of the one in not a bad deal with some rust but very fixable with minimal welding. For a rust free perfect tub, you may have to bring one out of the west but --bring it to where???? If I had one and I was in ---say Colorado---and it was up on benches---would I reply if you were located in Florida???
Good luck with your search---Huck |

He's in Kansas I think Huck, I've told him about mine. They are pretty hard to find around here without rust.

I've got a good tub for you - and I'll throw in the rest of the truck too...
