Opinions on repop hood hinges
I need one new hood hinge for my truck and I will probably buy a pair. I'm deciding between having mine rebuilt and buying some new ones. I was hoping some people have some experiences to share with new reproductions that they purchased.
Anything to share?

Re: Opinions on repop hood hinges
The PO installed a pair from LMC (I have the receipt) .They open and close fine but I am unable to get the one side to close completely. Close inspection revealed that the rivets are not in the same locations from side to side. There is a difference of about 3/16" which I believe is why no amount of adjustment allows the hood to close properly.
Just my two cents. It may be a one off problem for all I know. I am planning on replacing them with a rebuilt pair when funds allow.

Re: Opinions on repop hood hinges
I ordered a pair from Rock Auto, Goodmark brand, fit and work great. I kept my original hinges to be sent out for rebuilding one day...

This is the best solution I think.
Call HoodHingeRepair.com Services. Here is a thread on his work. There are many threads on this subject. Willie is by far the best solution. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=525638 http://www.hoodhingerepair.com/

Re: Opinions on repop hood hinges
Some years ago.* I was able to get a set of hood hinges and springs from the local Chevy dealer. They were made by GM for that vintage, but not during the '67-'72 run. I didn't try them yet, but they looked perfect.
* Looks like they were made by GM in 2004 for '67-'72s. I looked in my '67 Suburban, and found them. Here are the part numbers: Hinges -- 3911705, 3911706. [One's Left and the other's the Right.] Springs -- 3890741 [times 2]. I have no opinion on repops. Why buy offshore, if you can get OEM? Try your dealership.
