Re: Dz’s 71 Cheyenne Build
And tonight, I finally got the cab off the rotisserie and on to the cab stand.

Re: Dz’s 71 Cheyenne Build
Looks like your making progress and doing it right. It can be an arduous job for sure, so hang in there. Its very cool that your wife is helping you out also.
The family and I have been to Pensacola for a vacation, a few years ago. We went to Navarre beach for an afternoon and had a great time. How do you like living there?

Re: Dz’s 71 Cheyenne Build
We like it a lot here. It's a small area but near some larger areas so there is plenty to do. The one thing we really miss is mountains. My wife and I grew up in the Smoky Mountains, so that is really what we call home even though we've been here for 11 years now. It's nice to go back home to visit though. Just got back from Thanksgiving up there on Sunday.

Re: Dz’s 71 Cheyenne Build
Figured I needed to post a few updates. Got the cowl installed, firewall and cowl painted, inner firewall/foot board epoxy primed, and the main parts of the cab painted. Didn’t bother painting the center of the roof as that will be covered with the roof panel. Also got the cab installed back on the frame. Nice to see it starting to come back together!

Re: Dz’s 71 Cheyenne Build
Got a bit of orange peel going on. But it’s gonna be a beach wagon/driver and not a show truck, so I’m learning.

Re: Dz’s 71 Cheyenne Build
Don't worry about the orange peel, spraying inside the cab is hard no matter what. Looks great!

Re: Dz’s 71 Cheyenne Build
Looks great! Would you mind giving some more details about the paint used and your process?

The roof will be TCP Oxford White BC/CC. Oxford White simply because that is the color of my Mustang. For my system, I'm really just using ShopLine Epoxy primer, and the TCP BC/CC. One layer of epoxy over the metal/bondo, then 3 layers of base, followed by 3 layers of clear. For the clear in the cab and the engine bay, I've added TCP House of Kolor flattening agent. I'm up to a 2:1 mix on the flattener and it is still real shiny. I might have to wetsand the dash to keep from blinding us going down the road. However, it appears to be losing shine as it fully cures. I haven't cut anything I've painted thus far as it all has had the flattener in it and I don't want it any more shiny than it is now. I may do some buffing/polishing on the exterior depending on the amount of trash in the paint once I'm done. |
