Spent some time with jimmy recently.

Taking a short break from a hectic year and brought this into the garage and hoping to have it ready for spring.

Looks like maybe a farm rig judging by the dents around it. I picked this up in Colorado springs about a year ago. Not a lot of rust, but need plenty of things. I am just trying to use my parts I have lying around here and just make a driver...

Pics from when I got it home last jan.

Re: Spent some time with jimmy recently.

Pretty much sat for a year before I could "tinker" with it. Pass fender is bad, but just happen to have a nice one. Bumper is tweaked, but have one of those also... grill is a little bent and rusted, but wouldn't you know it, I have a better one here.

May as well check the heater core while it is apart, add some new hoses, oil change etc...

Re: Spent some time with jimmy recently.

Just as I thought, fender is too nice and now I have to clean it all up...

Here we are as of 1-22-20. Still have a lot of little projects to do on it, but those will have to wait for a bit.

Re: Spent some time with jimmy recently.

That’s a solid one for sure and equipped well.
Looking at the plates, it was from the Cheyenne area. Wyoming only recently started using mag chloride snow melt. Growing up it used to just be sand on some intersections knowing how to drive. It was good for old metal and keeping the out of state folks away.

Yep, should be fun. Between the big burb, the jimmy camper, my 67 gmc and this, the insurance company will love me.

I don't know the back story, the guy I bought it from was a flipper I think. I noticed the plates too, but didn't care where it came from as long as it wasn't a rust bucket. As I say, I picked it up in CO springs.

Re: Spent some time with jimmy recently.

Eric can you post a pic of the bucket seats when possible? Is the blue decal with the build date on the driver door? Looks like early 72 build given the low sequence number.

I will check if the decal is there. The seats and brackets are not original which Is why I wondered about utility buckets in this one.

Re: Spent some time with jimmy recently.

Any chance to tell if the floor pan thread pattern matches that for sport bucket brackets?

Pics... Looks like an early build. It appears the inner bolts mounting the seats are in the correct holes.
Where the tape shows, it is approx. 18.5" outside to outside of outer bolts.
I thought of pulling these seats and brackets and selling them and put the correct ones in, but they are in ok shape and comfortable.

Re: Spent some time with jimmy recently.

I think the seats and brackets are 1976 vintage and been modified to make work. I added a pic of the rear seat which may be original yet to show the pattern.

Re: Spent some time with jimmy recently.

Thanks for posting. Seems like it would have been outfitted with sport type front buckets then as opposed to the utility buckets seen on earlier model years then. If so fits with other observations. Nice buy. The paint shined up pretty well. Looks like a perfect winter project.
