Hi Pete,
Couldn't you make one I've got a HO52 no spin with the tag, nothing stamped on it though
Do you need dimensions

That would be a huge help! Thank you. I just assumed these tags were embossed. Would be fun to reproduce the tag. Whenever convenient for you.

Good idea. I swapped out my front axle tag on the Blazer when I added 3.73s.

Re: WTB: Eaton rear axle locker tag

Hmmm....69-72 positraction rear ends had a red plastic tag so not sure what the metal tag is supposed to be?

Correct - for an entirely different axle in 1/2t applications though. This tag is found on Eaton rear axles with No Spin lockers used for 3/4 and 1 ton trucks not only for 67-72 but for many preceding model years from what I understand.

Re: WTB: Eaton rear axle locker tag

hi Pete, I've posted this several times because it was so surprising that the tag being present is the tell, there's nothing on it from the factory..

I have one loose I can possibly even make you one or anyone else [within reason] and send them to you..

I have some crafty mechanics at work that can probably match the material and figure out how to stamp or cut some out..

it's laying there in the yoke..... from my fruitless search for what was printed or stamped on it

the D60 limited slip [positraction gm nomenclature] have metal tags on them indicating correct lube..

and ratio tags with tooth count..

these tags on 4wd D44 front axles are also somewhat reliable tell for rear gear ratios where the rear HO52/72 isn't as easily distinguishable

Re: WTB: Eaton rear axle locker tag

Anything I can do to facilitate a reproduction please let me know. Tiny details like this I’m all about. Thanks for taking the time to post pics.

Here’s an example of what the posi tag would look like for a 12 bolt on a half ton truck for at least 71-72 and probably earlier. Note the coarse plumbing threads and shape of the bolt - totally different design than found on an open diff rear, which use a finer thread and have a recessed slot to accommodate a socket wrench.

Re: WTB: Eaton rear axle locker tag

Here’s a NOS locker not same model as seen in light duty trucks but note the envelope has instructions to the chassis assembler to leave instructions in the glove box and affix the decal to the instrument panel.

Gotcha - I only know one man who'd likely have one so I will ping him now and see

Re: WTB: Eaton rear axle locker tag

Pete,
Got some measurements for you and pics. Thickness is .060 with overall length at 2.25, width is a symmetrical oval shape with the center being 1.25 at its widest and the hole is .625 or 5/8
I can make this for you if you'd like. It's about 15 minutes of work. Just need a address to ship it .

You are the best! I’d love to have one and more than willing to compensate you for your time. If I had means to do so I’d produce myself. Happy to send beer money for your effort and am in no rush.

beat me to it!

I checked mine this morning and I thought it was .030" - .031" which would be about 22ga.. I'll double check that.. it's carbon steel and rough dimensions I took are same, about 1.25" x 2.25".. pinion cover bolt is .500" so clearance hole maybe slightly larger, lock washer didn't leave clean hole on mine to be precise but never see it after installed

Les is also looking for a couple per post #11, could you make them for him too please? I don't mind making some but you'll certainly be done before me

thank you!

Re: WTB: Eaton rear axle locker tag

^ indeed Dave, very kind!

I wonder if they're were any changes to these over the years or models?

either way, I like the thicker material as these are somewhat fragile as seen here

the lightly cleaned tag I removed from diff with ring gear date 4/1970 is ~ .030"

the rusty wrinkled tag still on the original diff in the red '71 longhorn is ~ .035"
