Hello, I was wondering if there is any differences between a 1971 Jimmy 4x4 frame and the frame for a 71 Shortbox 4x4. I'm asking because I just recently bought a 71 Jimmy that had a 69 cab put on it years ago and I was wondering if I could somehow put a shortbox box on it without any major modifications. Thanks for your help.

The Jimmy/Blazer frame is shorter at the wheelbase by I think it is 10 inches.Here is a pic of a blazer frame with a cab and box on it. Look how much they had to cut off the front of the bed...

I did this a number of years ago, just playing around with spare parts, and I used a step side bed. It worked out fairly well. I made my cuts in the center of the bed sides, where the fenders covered the most (at least on the outside). I ended up with about two inches between the back of the cab and the front of the fenders. This truck was my daily driver for about 8 years until my wife wrecked it.
