Was waiting for this truck to go through the Mecum Auction in Glendale Arizona this past week. The truck was a No Sale and was only bid to 16,000 with the reserve not met at that price. Yet at the same auction there 6/8 other 67-72 C10s that went for great money like in the 20,000's.. Is it cause its white it didn't bring decent money cause it looks right to me.

It could have been the options on the truck ...
Maybe the other trucks were resto-mods while this was a stock truck?
Numbers matching truck?
BB Truck?
Lots of decisions when buying these trucks.

were the other 6-8 trucks short beds , if so that is your answer. a long bed will not bring the money a short bed does.

Agreed. Had it been a short bed, it probably would have brought $25K - assuming it is as nice as the pictures show.

Long bed v. short bed, plus it's really hard to tell the quality of work and condition from pictures and on TV. You have to see it in person.

In this truck's case and at an auction like Mecum, I'd say the LS swap hurt it - at the very least, significantly narrowed the potential buyer pool. And of course, the lwb vs swb discussion applies. Were the others that sold in the 20's lwb or swb? (I don't think white hurts this truck)

Okay I understand the longed/shortbed thing and the difference in values and some of the others were shortbox trucks. Mark why do you think the LS engine hurt it. I mean the trucks is obviously RestoMod and and LS would be a big part of that.

I think it hurt it at Mecum because, although lotsa restomods roll across the block, a significant percentage of the folks there are looking for original or restored cars/trucks. Same holds true for lwb+lowered combo. I haven't seen lowered lwb or lwb LS conversions have the same wide base of buyers. There are buyers that will pay high $ for either one of those, but there's undoubtedly a larger buying pool for lowered swb or swb LS conversion trucks. And there are certainly examples of lowered or LS trucks going for high $ - but that's not my point - I'm only saying that folks at Mecum for original or restored trucks won't be part of the group of bidders there on that particular day - so if there's not at least two folks that want to duke it out, the truck won't bring what it's likely worth - and why this guy ended the bid - he clearly has more than that $ figure in the truck. Tomorrow, or at the next Mecum, might be a different story - but anything that shrinks the buying pool reduces number of potential buyers and the likelihood of success at a one-time auction. I think this truck would bring more on ebay due to the size and diversity of that bidding pool.

We are going to see demand for these beauties swing wildly, taking the high prices with it in the short term. Do the restoration work for the love of it, not for the $$$! Or if the latter, be very patient as we are only beginning to see the financial impact.

A cut down longbed is not going to pull the money to a smart buyer. Only someone whom just wants a toy to enjoy for a while. To me a Mecum buyer is just someone with too much money, not a altruistic enthusiast.

Now to go out and purchase a points distributor getting ready for the big one!

Remember these are just labels on a shelf somewhere waiting to attach to someone willing, waiting. Like PT Barnum style, without the insults.

I say track it down and make an offer. I love a white truck. That truck minus the wheels looks almost like mine.
