HEI and Header Questions
I know that the swap for the HEI unit is a no-brainer, but will I have to recurve the unit for the engine that I am building?
Are the exhaust ports all the same on all Small blocks? even the Vortecs? Are there any sites that would give me info for the distributor question.

HEI's are a drop in, nothing else to do (except make sure you aren't off a gear or something)

you do have to run a new power wire for an hei to eliminate the resistor wire as well as eliminate the yellow wire from the starter

i agree with both guys on the HEI, its a pretty bolt in swap, with addition of a wire from IGN unfused in the fuse box(full batt voltage). As far as a recurve, it will help your power band & mileage. Crane puts out a nice kit , vac advance can + springs for the mech advance.....the instruction is also good! It will take a little time 1st time around, but after a time or 2 , you will have a new "trick" that you can keep As far as ports & header match up, you should be ok for most apps.....if you try to run some monster heads , like a 12 or 18 degree (roundy pounder stuff), you will have issues with headers. Best of luck, crazyL
