Re: 75 GMC Grill?
I'm not familiar with 76 and older grills, however the 77-79 GMC chrome grilles had two stainless steel pcs that look like yours, that fastened to the grilles with anchor clips and nuts. I think in 80 those pcs were painted the body color.

Re: 75 GMC Grill?
The strips you are trying to add is what makes the grille a v22 (the optional appearance package). I have a v22 Chev grille and the strips are glued on. I have enquired here as to the attachment and so far there has been no comment and I haven’t been able to remove the mouldings. I have tried a variety of organic solvents with no success to date. The 77-79 v22 mouldings we’re bolted on as noted. I also have a 75/76 GMC grille with the v22 option and I presume the strips on it are also glued on.

Re: 75 GMC Grill?
I have restored a few 75-76 with the strips and all are clipped on. There are small tabs molded into the plastic of the grille and the strips are pressed over them and snap in. Other may vary but all the ones I've done are this way.

Re: 75 GMC Grill?
Very very carefully!! Lol. With the plastic being over 40 years old it breaks easily. A small screw driver to gently pry and another push the strip off. There are many on each side (top and bottom) of the strips. You almost always break some getting them off but there is enough of them to hold it firmly in place. Going back on is easy. Line it up and work it on evenly until almost all the way then one final push to lock it in.
The key getting them off it do not rush it and go easy. |

Re: 75 GMC Grill?
My NEW NOS strips seems to push on and would stay, but I would not trust them without adhesive. They seem to be slightly bent to press on with "some" force.

Re: 75 GMC Grill?
Here are a few pictures of a grille I've got hangin on the wall. I didn't try to remove the strips but they look like they are snapped on over some small tabs. They may be glued also, not sure what would hold the ends on.

Re: 75 GMC Grill?
No problem! Glad that old grille was still useful besides wall art and giving spiders a home.
