1971 C/20 Cheyenne ?'s

I'm looking at buying a 1971 C/20 Cheyenne Long Bed two wheel drive NO RUST/NO BOND...can somebody look at the description and see if something doesn't make sense, or jumps out at ya?
What should I look for/ask about with this truck?
Does the description sound normal, I mean did they make a 400 4 bolt main, did they make an Eaton with 3.73's?

here are the details;
Engine; a rebuilt 1972 400 SBC 4 bolt Main with "towing" cam 4 bbl Quadrajet
Trans: a rebuilt Turbo 400 3 spd auto/column
*engine/trans rebuilt 25K miles ago
Rear:Eaton 10 bolt with 3.73's(not sure open or no slip)
powers steering, disc brakes w/booster/towing package/trailer wire harness/4 core radiator/oil cooler/Air Conditioning/

restored from ground up over past ten years ago.

If I'm not mistaking, I think all small block 400's were 4 bolts.

Thanks for the info...yeah it looks pretty clean, but I'll be seeing it in person tomorrow, so I hope the pictures are acurate.

That is a nice looking truck. Look for rust sign's in the rocker's and cab corner's...

Check the bottom of the doors and under the battery box on the inner fender well as well. From the pics it's a good looking truck.

not all 400 sb were 4 bolt main. actually, i think the 2 bolt mains are more desireable than the 4 bolt. but the 400 sb was not an engine originally offered in any 67-72.

also, if the eaton has 3.73 then it is not original. there was an aftermarket 3.73 set that hasn't been sold in a while, but i have never seen / heard of one. they only came stock with 4.11, 4.57, or 5.14.

Anyone know the stock horsepower of a 1972 SBC 400 4 bolt main?

If they swapped out the rear gears for 3.73's, it must have been to make it more highway friendly is my guess.

Does it happen to be badged as 400? (emblem under front marker light) I think I can see SB alternator bracket in pic ruling out my 1st hope for you that it was in fact a BB. Check glovebox option sheet for original motor size. If it was a BB new it might have the 3.54 rear although I'm not sure that was available in round /eaton/corp rear or just in leaf-spring dana 60's. The rears as in your pic usually had 4.10 or 4.56 gears stock. If 3.73 its aftermarket and I never knew those were available for this model rearend aftermarket.

keep us posted on your findings. Looks like good truck although watch for hidden suprises like others mentioned.

A 400 is a good engine and will work great in a 3/4 ton, that's the biggest engine you could get from the factory. The HP in a stock 400 is around 310 horses, I just read that in my 1970 service manual. Also be sure to check out the roof and the areas around the doors for rust, those are some of the hardest places to repair.

My 1973 Motor's repair manual doesn't list the numbers that high.

70 400 2bbl 265hp
