Re: Been a long road but it's running

Looks like your builder knew to stay away from the COMP lifters and put Howards in your motor. I didn't and have quite a bit of lifter noise as a result. I suspect yours is much quieter than mine. -klb[/QUOTE] Nothing but trouble with COMP lifters on the last two motors built. I will never go with COMP again! Howards have been good! Pat |

Re: Been a long road but it's running
Is the dust cover on your driveline rubbing on your carrier bearing?
That can make a hell of a racket under load and quiet right down when you let off. sound carries up the drive line, and sounds like it's coming from up front. Easily cured by loosening the bearing and moving it back 1/32". just a thought. Hope you figure it out. -Russ |

Re: Been a long road but it's running
Good to hear you have found the source of the noise. Maybe a starter shim will clearance it enough?

Re: Been a long road but it's running
Thanks for the replies guys.. so I took the mini starter out and had a machinist friend take about an 1/8 off.... No noise and sounds great now that I can focus on the motor instead of the noise... Next up is installing the grill and some body mounts from Wes....
