'71 Custom Camper
I was on my way back from a camping trip sunday afternoon and saw a beautiful thing. It was a '71 Custom Camper sitting in the grass next to the hwy. I locked up the brakes and turned my but around.
The truck has 65,000 org miles on a 350. The seat is sexy, not even a scratch. The only spot of rust on this thing is around the bottom mirror mount on the pass door. Somethin hit it while it was sitting in the garage. Three fuel tanks, leaf springs, and much more than I can list. It makes me sad. Oh yea, the original camper was sitting on the back. After talking to the owner, He told me the truck was garaged most its life. So on the way home, I had the wife meet me in town for a nice dinner to butter her up. After me begging and pleading with her I talk her into going and looking at it. I parked the truck and jumped in hers and we drove the 45 miles back out there. She liked it but told me I was crazy. If anyone is interested I have the phone #. He wants $7500 for it and it is near Concrete, WA. I am still sick to my stomach!

do you have a picture of one of these? I think I saw one at the junkyard, but couldn't make out the year cos it had been parted... sad too.. the guy told us it drove in there, the owner was just tired of it.. now its a cab and a rotting pile of wood and aluminum

I did not have a camera with me nor do I know were to find a pic. I don't believe that the owner has one either. He don't do much pc work. I mentioned the board to him because he has a 51 that is in resto and he did no sound interested. The truck and the camper are both good lookers though.

I found one very close to what you are talking about on my way back from Little Rock, AR.... it was sitting in a fence line, I stopped and looked at it. It had very little rust (nothing like my 69 stepside im working on). It sounded very strong, and it had a 4 spd tranny. I went back to look at it (work on the price), and a tree had fell on it. I went back home thinking i was going to be empty handed, but I found my current project instead.

I could not sleep last night thinking of this truck. Woke up the wife and she still told me that I am crazy for we are moving to Flordia in 7 weeks and both of us are already towing something. I figure that I may see something on that 3000 mile trip across the country. I will stay a day behind her and she wont even know I picked up a stray until we get there and it is paid for. lol

Hey that road trip sounds good! Let me know when and I will be there. I cleaned my truck today. I tell u what that bastard had mud everywear. It took 3 1/2 hours and I still missed some. If I had a 4X4 I would be hurting.

I learned that it is Custom Camper, not Camper Special. My mistake.
