Service Airbag

My 2015 Chevy 2500HD Duramax (37K miles) just gave me the warning message of "Service Air Bag". Love it. I have a 2 door W/T but I see a listing for front and rear sensors. Front being Dorman 590-283 and rear being Dorman 590-285. I know where the front sensors are located but where if any on a 2 door are the rear sensors? Or are the rears on a quad or crew cab or LLT/LTZ?

I have extended warranty for 8 years total but it carries a $250 deductible so I will try the fix myself as this seams to be a common/recurring problem.

Re: Service Airbag

The actual error code I have is a B0091 which is/may be left side front sensor, its connection, or wiring.

I think a B0092 is the right side front.

The plastic front end shield needs to be removed then I will disconnect both negs on battery then check the left connection, hook back up and see if it gives the error. If it still does it I will replace that sensor next.

Re: Service Airbag

While my truck is 2005 and yours is newer, I had a service airbag message and code for front passenger airbag . Looked and replaced a bunch of things. Turned out that the air bag harness under the seat which sends a signal to PCM that somebody is sitting in the seat, one wire was pulled out of the clip. It was pulled out because the rear passenger put their feet under my seat and somehow was able to accidentally pull the wire out.

Not saying this is your problem, but worth looking into.

Re: Service Airbag

Evrlet, I will re-examine the seat wiring under both seats even tho mine is a 2 door regular cab.

I removed the front shield and only found 1 airbag sensor in the middle somewhat underneath the radiator.

I only have driver and passenger front airbags on my 2 door regular cab 2500HD W/T Duramax. Maybe there is only one on it. Have not found anything on the web.

Fixed ------ Service Airbag

Sure enough, it was the impact sensor. My W/T only had one in the middle under the guard in the front.

My replacement was a Dorman 590-283 that I got from Rockauto for $114 total. They did not show it with my year and model. I had to type it in for search - found the number on ebay.

Make sure the plug is the same as they move the little tabs for various positions I guess.

A Dorman 590-285 would not have worked for me as the plug was slightly different even tho it shows on web for my model/year and front.

On my truck, I did not have to disconnect battery for replacement (truck not running and key OFF) just unplug from old and plug in new then start truck or just turn ignition on to test.

The removal of the old one on my Duramax was not worth the effort.. I left it in place and ty wrapped the new one to a close position. It is 2 wires and does not require a ground to work- old one is fastened with a left hand thread star bolt?? to a plastic shroud. The plug was accessable.
