Dual snorkel air cleaner

I'm trying to stay basically stock with my 71 C30 402, but I've always like the look of dual snorkel ... kinda cool looking.

Has anyone ever converted a single to a dual, or do you know of a repro version made for some other Chevy that would work on my quadrajet?

Re: Dual snorkel air cleaner

Bought this one for mine and got it from Rock Auto. I used the one from a 1972 Z28 small block Camaro and don't see why it wouldn't work on your BB.

Re: Dual snorkel air cleaner

That looks great. Maybe some sort of cool 402 decal would make it that much better for me.

Cool Re: Dual snorkel air cleaner

I fabbed this up in college I used 2 air cleaners for a 350 I welded up the flaps inside the snorkels but, I may end up using the air cleaner that goes through the cowl like on some Camaros back then I do have another lid for this one too with a much higher c.i. and h.p. rating than the 350 turbo fire 270 h.p. decal that's on it

Re: Dual snorkel air cleaner

I got my dual snorkel from a L82 engined Corvette. I wanted it Chevy stockish looking. Found a sticker I liked and put that on top.

Looks great guys, I’m running the stock single snorkel. I might change to the dual snorkel. Where do you guys get the sticker with the engine specs?

The decals I bought from Classic Industries I believe the cubic inch Turbo Fire decal was supposed to be for an Impala but, it looks like it belongs. So I doubt someone will come out and say hey that air cleaner decal isn't stock for a C/10. I'm gonna get the a new air cleaner and Valve cover decal repoped for mine too as soon as my engine is built so it'll say 8/383 or whatever but it'll look absolutely stock the decal that is

Is the extra lid the early style or the later style like heskahoka has? I need an early type lid to clear my hood, I have the later type now and it’s too tall. Here is a pic of mine. The air cleaner is off my ‘74 Camaro that I had in HS that had an LT1 engine.

It won't clear the hood in your truck???

I have a 70-72 Z/28 dual snorkel for my '67 project. But I'm thinking about making one with the earlier style 327 air filter housing, like a '66 327 L79. On a C/30 I think an open element would look right at home, if you are wanting an authentic retro look. The open elements give the best power increase and that is what an owner would have been after in their heavy hauler more than a muscle car look. But a dual snorkel is definitely cooler looking than stock. Just saying I'd save that look for a go-fast truck

I don’t really know for sure because I haven’t tried to install the hood but it doesn’t look like it will. What do you think?

No I fabbed my dual snorkel out of 2 350 air cleaners so I put the Turbo Fire 350 270 horsepower decal on one lid and, left the other one blank for now. They're both the same. I don't have a cowl air cleaner yet, but will someday.

Ok, now I see. Trucks have plenty of room in stock configuration. It does look iffy for hood clearance.

Re: Dual snorkel air cleaner

I think mine is from a '80 Corvette on my '74 K/20. Had to buy two air cleaners to make one- was tough to find a factory chrome cover. '70-'72 Corvette dual snorkels work well on '67-'72 trucks, they use the same lid as the trucks and look factory.

That '72 Z28 cleaner has the right look. Does it have an indentation to clear an HEI?

Pretty sure this is the lid you're after, late 60's early 70's Corvette. The lid in your picture is later- two wing nuts usually used with TBI setups, not carbs.

Looks close. I took these for reference points for you. SB, 1" spacer, 4" tall air cleaner. Camera on rad support, hood closed. Using the washer hose hole as reference, your air cleaner looks close. After looking at these pics, I've got to get my engine bay cleaned up!

Re: Dual snorkel air cleaner

I have a repop dual snorkel air cleaner for my truck. Tried running the chrome open element type as it looks better, but not a fan of intake noise. Need to get some decals as it looks naked without. The one I bought will work on pretty much all 4BBL carbs. I know for sure quadrajet and holley.

Yep that’s what the original lid looked like. It is long gone, stolen from my moms shed about 25 years ago. I can get a new one but I can only find them on the Corvette websites for $100. I don’t want one that bad.
