K20 Painted Hubcaps

I was hoping to crowd source some help again guys. I am trying to figure out the most likely factory hubcap situation for a 1970 K20 Z62 without a P03 call out on the SPID. Was it capless from the factory or did it have painted hubcaps? If it were a 2WD, I have no doubt that it'd have white caps. But after a fair bit of searching tonight I could only come up with two pics of K20s with white caps regardless of year. And I cannot speak to the originality of either.

I sifted through the Vehicle Information Kits for 70-72 in the GM Archives but couldn't suss out anything.

A pic of a factory capless '69 in period for the heck of it.

Thanks for any help.

Re: K20 Painted Hubcaps

I'm pretty sure the only hubcaps that came on K/20s were PO3 option. The same for K/10s, except the PO1 option

Re: K20 Painted Hubcaps

Tims correct, no painted hub caps came on 67-72 4x4s. I like the look tho, no reason not to cut the centers out of some and run them.

Re: K20 Painted Hubcaps

I agree with Blazerman. It's a nice look. A "coulda been factory" look. More factory looking than no hubcaps to 99% of the people. I've bored out painted K/10 hubcaps for that look before. I see older 4wds that have done both painted or chrome, since neither came on any pre-69 4wds

Re: K20 Painted Hubcaps

P03 chrome caps were not available on K20's. Nothing mentioned in the standard equipment about hub caps which is strange, in the later years they're listed in standard equipment. Even P01's are shown for C/10 only.

Re: K20 Painted Hubcaps

Maybe I shouldn't have thrown the '69 pic in there to confuse this issue, since my primary concern is 1970...

1) Agree that no '69 (or earlier) 4WDs came from the factory with hubcaps
2) '70 and up, P03s available as an option or included with YE9 package

...is my current take away.

I have seen white "K20" caps floating around on eBay and other places. All yellow bowtie. Obviously these can be fabricated. Haven't done enough digging on early square bodies to know if that was a thing for them....

EDIT: Also, I am not suggesting that YE9 was a thing in '70 (obviously not), but in the vehicle info kits, it does call out chrome caps as part of the trim package.

I agree. Here are 2 K 20's with the chrome caps. If I had a base model K 20, I would install some painted caps on the rear only, and think of it as an add on dealer accessory.

And I mean '69-earlier (or pre-70) not pre-69 for 4wds having hubcaps. Same year that trucks got automatic trans, NP205, and the chrome & plastic Spicer lock-outs.

No problem. It is a beauty, appears to be one of those "custom" tu tone paint jobs, dark bronze metallic, medium bronze metallic code 555.
