'71 Blazer CST Man
Cali cops are no fun! Yes, I have alley lights, and the center strobes work; I put them on a momentary switch so I don't accidentally leave them on. The rear whites are hooked up to reverse, and the rear reds to the break/turn. I tend to use them fairly often for short periods. I've got 2 18-wheeler batteries, so I can run them and the radio for quite some time. You're right, it is a Whelen. I had to special order the clear lenses. I've never tried to mount it to the roll bar, but when I get around to reconditioning the top, I think I'll mount it to the windshield frame so that I can swap hard/soft/bikini tops.

oh, so no corner strobes? the only strobes are the centers? The whites in front(6) are all, i guess you could call "take downs" - they just stay lit? no flashing/strobes - etc. I like it just the same and wish i had the kind of $$bank$$ to throw one on mine..I think it looks bad ass. i'v been lookin at the Mini whelen...i forget the model...the small one.

I'd trade for a lo-pro mini. I didn't shell out for this one: I actually found it laying on the side of a back road. My guess is it came off a stolen cop car. It had all the strobes & stuff, but the controller was obviously still in the car. I re-wired it, put higher wattage bulbs in it, etc. Some day, I'll get an alarm and they will flash like the parking lights, making it easy to find in parking lots and stuff.

Nice lights, can't beat the price, lol. I've seen bull bars, those must be elephant bars. Hope you never hit anyone, man oh man, wouldn't be anything left.

I'm thinking a bracket kinda like the green lines in this to mount the lightbar to. It wouldn't shine in my face, and I could switch tops.
There wouldn't be much left of who I hit, you mean. Another 'to do' is to build a new frame; 4" pipe to attatch the bumpers to and mount the body on. That would really stiffen things up for battle.

i'v pretty much rulled out a light bar, too much of a hastle as far as mounting it with the top off , when its just going to be put back on again, and also as far as the police go. However i'v found some LED lights much like strobes that might look good 'thrown in the grill. I'm thinking of maybe gettin a pair of these I think they would look good AND HIDDEN in the grill. And since they're LEDs, when they arent on they're clear....so now i can have fun with colors too. Not sure which i want. Since i'd like to use them i'd really want amber/white....but it looks like i'm SOL All they have is
Red/Red Amber/Amber Red/Amber Red/Blue Amber/Blue Red/White Blue/Blue Blue/White I could do amber/amber and be legal...but that's not much fun. Blue/white would be alot more fun for, ya know, parking lots You can also order them by the inch So if i cant find something close to what i want, i can get EXACTLY what i want from somplace like http://www.rimindustries.com/able2/leds_by_the_inch.htm <- that. Options are really endless there Maybe i can get some of those 1" LED bricks(4 LED lights) in our reverse lights too, that would be trick! |
