Re: 70 c-10 Rebuild and redo
Made an order from LMC this week. I broke one of the springs on the headlights so I ordered new mounting screws and springs to finish off the grill install.

Re: 70 c-10 Rebuild and redo
The old wiring harness was a mess. I completely untaped it and went through the whole thing. I took out all the tapes up splices where over the years it had been butchered and fixed all of that. shrink wrapped all the repairs and hoped it was good. Wouldn't you know it, one headlight is bad. Oh well, I'll take it. Damn proud of how she looks so far.

Re: 70 c-10 Rebuild and redo
The paint guy still has my steps, rear fenders, cowl and hood. Maybe one more year, man I hope not. I got all my stuff to finish buttoning the interior back in place so maybe by next week he will have me some more parts. Let's pray......

Re: 70 c-10 Rebuild and redo
Some more updates. I ordered black kick panels and when I went to install i saw what a mess the vent door were in. I removed them, sand blasted, painted and reinstalled. The red is before blast as they both looked. The other is after I blasted it. A small sand blaster will make old rubber look like new again.

Re: 70 c-10 Rebuild and redo
I also had my steps Rhino lined. I just wanted something different than all slick and I knew they would eventually get stepped on. That is what they were for, right..
I picked up my fender yesterday and they are beautiful but I had the wrong bolts. I am having to wait on the bolts to get them installed. The step panels are on though. Under the fenders are rough on the bed but it will never be seen. The Rhino liner madee the inside of he bed look straight as new. |

Re: 70 c-10 Rebuild and redo
And the last post for today. I had a sea of black so I decided to go with something different on the interior. I am using a saddle color carpet and ordered some matching vinyl to do some accents here and there. I recovered the top of the console and have to make some adjustments on it due to adding carpet but I think it's gonna look great.
I am installing the interior this week. |

Re: 70 c-10 Rebuild and redo
A little more progress has been made. Both rear fenders are installed with some help from the kid's. I also got the remaining part's from the painter so we are good to go. I wound up getting sick so I am a week or more behind and should be done. I had to order a rear wiring harness to replace the existing because it had been butchered to the point of no return. I was hoping it would come in today but the Holiday may have everything running late but we are about to be on the road.

Re: 70 c-10 Rebuild and redo
Well the wiring harness showed up and that is complete along with the new LED tail lights. All the electrical is good except the dimmer switch is cutting my head lights off so I will replace it. Thought I would add a pic of my painted hood and the wood also was delivered to me yesterday. I'm super fired up to get this thing finished up now. Hopefully we will be on the road this weekend for a little test cruise anyway.

Re: 70 c-10 Rebuild and redo
Man, that truck is super awesome. I really like what you did with the rhino liner in the bed and on the steps. Would not have thought of the steps but now you have me considering that as well for my truck when I get to that point. I have already thought about painting those steps only to have them stepped on and scratched. Not sure how my bed sides will clean up as I have not even started that yet.
Super build and that truck is gonna cause a few cases of whiplash when folks see it going down the road.

Re: 70 c-10 Rebuild and redo
Thanks 67, I have a bunch of kids here and that is exactly what I thought. Soon as it's painted some dummy is gonna step on it, LOL. This is Line X and honestly it is not that expensive and if your bed is kind of rough this covers up a lot.

One more pic. Got all my lights working except my high low beams. I replaced the switch and have a new pig tails ordered to try. LED tail lights installed flush in the fender.

Re: 70 c-10 Rebuild and redo
I got the Hi/lo beams figured out. In my redoing the wiring I had lost a ground on one of the head lights. Finally tracked it down and now we are back on the road to completion. I had a bunch of teenagers hanging around yesterday so I put them to work helping install the wood bed. OMG I have never seen so many bolts, that was a pain and I still have some to install but should finish it today. BUT, it did turn out as awesome as I had hoped, I love the look.

Me too! Your choice of stain color and paint make for a very classy look. 👍🏼

Fired her off yesterday and pulled her out for a bath. Just a few things left to button up and I am done for a while.

Re: 70 c-10 Rebuild and redo
Time for another update. We got the tail gate installed and it went pretty easy. The hood also was installed but I am having some alignment issues with it. Pretty common stuff, trying to get it to sit down and all the gaps close as possible. I'm gonna fight it some more this evening and see what we can get done. The inside of the tail gate is also Line x covered. It really turned out nice.

Re: 70 c-10 Rebuild and redo
Well, I had my doubts she would ever get put back together but she is on the road. I wanted some better pics to share but the rain is keeping her put up for a couple day's and it is driving me crazy but I still have a lot of small stuff to finalize.
I had to adjust the 700r4 cable a few times to get it shifting like I wanted and I have burned about 10 gallons of gas through it so far. Looking forward to some pretty day's ahead I hope. I will get some better pics when the sun comes back one day. I have to make a decision on the guages i need and which way to go and finish up the console panel I did not like but the interior is close. |

Re: 70 c-10 Rebuild and redo
A couple more things done the past few day's. Built a new panel for the console to hold my phone. I mostly stream pandora music or something and this works out great.
