66 K30 Front Diff
I'm going to make a K30 out of my C30. Any recommendations on which diff to use? I want a dana 60 with power disc brakes and am hoping to not have to narrow it to make my tires fit underneath comfortably. Any info would be appreciated.

Re: 66 K30 Front Diff
I think the early 60s trucks were very similar to 67-72 regarding the frame and WMS stuff. WMS means wheel mounting surface or the distance from where a wheel mounts to the other. Measure from rear drum face to the other to start. Look for a front diff w/ the same/close dimensions. The new diff has to have the same ratios as the rear.
73 and up fronts are supposed to be a bolt in for 67-72 but since you're 2x4 you need the frame mounts. The crossmember on a 4x4 is different. Needless to say you need a TC and cut/new rear driveshaft and one for the front. Power brakes has little to do with the conversion... |
