Matching up the right green carpet from ACC

I received samples from StockInteriors.com and I agree that the dark green (588) suggested by vendors does not match the stock interior parts as well as I had hoped. Dark green (588) is best described as midnight green, like late 90s to present Philadelphia Eagles uniforms.

Dark Olive (509) is what I installed 10 years ago and IMO is still the best looking green of the 80/20 samples. Unfortunately, the showed significant fading to brown in the 1st year. Surely the has to be a. Closer match.

Green (609) in 100% nylon loop could be a close match to the stock interior color. It's tough to tell without seeing it in person. I'll provide an update when the 609 sample I just requested arrives.

Samples arrived from ACC. My opinion is 609 Nylon or 45 Loop are the closest matches to my dark olive interior.

Boy, it's really hard to pick a color isn't it? I just received samples from them & sometimes you wonder how the whole thing is going to look. I have a question before I order my carpet. It seems like the samples don't have much backing, so I'm thinking that is what the standard carpet has, which leads me to thinking I may want to order the carpet with the extra padding even though I'm installing 1/2" sound deadening. How are most of you doing it?

I talked with Wes and he convinced me to go with the correct factory carpet (Loop 30 Dark Olive Green) and am completely happy. To the naked eye it looks better than what cameras can obtain. I'm posting 3 pics, 1st one in the garage with florescent lighting / whatever light from outside, 2nd one outside in daylight - but not direct sunlight and the 3rd one in direct sunlight. Hope this helps.

The dark olive carpet looks really nice!

I only have experience with the poly backing. I covered the floor with POR-15 and 1/4" foil faced closed cell insulation so I felt mass backing would have been overkill.

In my case with the 1st carpet set I installed, the just padding had some air pockets where the padding bridged some of the carpet bends around in the transmission hump area preventing it from conforming to the hump properly. I pulled the jut padding off th poly backing then glued it with spray adhesive so the carpet would conform properly around the transmission hump. Installing in the summer and using heat from a hair dryer under the carpet on the poly backing helped the carpet take proper shape. In the end I was happy with standard poly backing. I don't know if mass backing would be as forgiving if the jut padding had to be removed and adjusted then re-glued.

For me, having the top off the Blazer most of the time, the carpet is going weather much more quickly than in a pickup truck. Therefor I purchased the less expensive option since the carpet needs to be replaced frequently to keep it looking nice for years to come.

I'm convinced to replace the old faded Dark Olive 30 with Dark Olive 30 again.

If it fades to brown quickly again then I'll try Green 45 on my next set in hopes the color will last longer.

I considered lizard skin but didn't use it. What is your impression of it? How was it to apply and were the results what you expected?

I chose lizard skin because I didn’t want to put any insulation down that would hold moisture. My truck sits outside a lot and isn’t completely dry if we get a lot of water.

Was pretty labor intensive to spray. 2 coats of each product. Not a fun summertime activity.

It appears to work well, my truck has a mechanically injected cummins diesel so it’s never going to be quiet. But I can hear the fuel slosh around in the tank now which is a new one haha.

Ha! The day will come when people are converting vintage and classics from combustion engines to electric. I could never do it. Imagine the squeaks and rattles you would hear with a quiet electric motor.

I installed 30 Dark Olive carpet. The carpet looks olive in person but, depending on lighting it sometimes looks brown in photographs.
