62 engine angle issue
Hey all, I need some help! I'm mocking up a V8 for my 62 C10 and the engine angle seems way too steep. I measured it at 12 degrees. I'm using the 67-72 engine perches with a 1/4 inch spacer on top of the frame. Transmission is attached and in place. Maybe I need to try a different mount? Feeling kinda confused.

Re: 62 engine angle issue
I think you need different mounts.
Maybe the 60/66 Guru's can help with the correct mount. Here is the flip for ya/ on the pictures. .

I think so.
How do I flip the pictures? Can't figure it out and everyone keeps doing it for me! |

Re: 62 engine angle issue
To me the perches look good. I'm wondering about the tranny mount....what do you have for that?

Re: 62 engine angle issue
What is the pinion angle? If it's close to 12° pointing up (maybe a degree less?), you're probably good. The angle of the engine/trans and the angle of the pinion need to work together.

Re: 62 engine angle issue
12deg is wayyyyyyy to much...needs to be around 3 deg down...and diff needs to be matching angle, but up...
I'm not familiar with your yr models and what it takes to install a v8..is using the 70s mounts a common thing to do?.. They look awfully high to me..

Re: 62 engine angle issue
I did find this old thread on it, so I guess the 70s mounts do work..
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=497634 According to Mark's post you may need a diff trans crossmember http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=369663

Re: 62 engine angle issue
The engine in my '77 C10 is 5° down, which at a lowered ride height, it actually too much for the u-joint operating angles to work with the pinion angle.

Re: 62 engine angle issue
I have a transmission crossmember from Capt. Fab
I'm wondering if the trans mount is too thick? I did see a lower profile one. Last edited by Todd46; 11-30-2020 at 08:33 PM. |

Re: 62 engine angle issue
The rear of the trans needs to go up, or the engine needs to go down. If that trans crossmember isn't going to work, let me know and I will send you one that does.

Re: 62 engine angle issue
Are those engine mount brackets for a '67-'72 with a small block?

Re: 62 engine angle issue
Yes they are. I will see what adjustment I can make with the transmission.

Re: 62 engine angle issue
I had the same issue when I mocked up the engine in my 62. I used 67-72 mounts and it made fit much better. The motor sits at 3degrees. Hope this helps.
