serpentine setup

Hello all, I recently installed a serpentine setup off a 98 Tahoe in my 72 with a pre-Vortec 5.7. my question for you all who have done this mod is as follows, #1- Im using the 98 water pump, how do I hook the heater core hoses being that the water pump has 2 inlet/outlet lines coming out of it, or is there an alternative pump I can use?
#2 I am also using the cs130d alternator, how did you hook that up? a wiring diagram would be awesome.
I would really appreciate any info, thanks

Re: serpentine setup

As far as I know heater hoses that connect to water pump are return hoses to the cooling system. Hot water to the heater core comes from the intake manifold, same area as where the thermostat is. Hot water is then run through the heater core and returned to the engine. My truck has a return line, from the heater core, on the radiator it-self. Located just below the upper radiator hose.

So, you may have a place to connect it to on the radiator or water pump...

Hope this helps a bit.

Bob

Re: serpentine setup

you can use a pre vortec pump from say a 91 c1500 with a 5.7

if you have upgraded to Si alternator you can use ec82 adapter plug with resistor for your cs130 upgrade

Si is a square body internally regulated alternator

Re: serpentine setup

Look up M&H wiring. I think they are in Santa Fe Springs, Ca. They may well have a pig tail to adapt the current harness to the new alternator. Relatively cheap and easy to utilize.

Re: serpentine setup

Delco 8078 is the CS to SI pigtail with gauges
Delco 8077 is the CS to SI pigtail with light

You will have to change some wires first.
