Nissan mirror

I had installed a GM rear view mirror several years ago with the Compass & temperature readings in it and the home-link buttons in the ash tray for opening the garage door. It worked but not like I wanted it to.
Well I have since upgraded to a Nissan mirror that has everything in the mirror.
I can open the garage door, check the temperature and see what direction I'm going all at my finger tips.
The new Nissan mirror requires a different temperature probe though out front.
I mounted it over to the side this time.

After doing a bunch of reading and searching on the net today I decided to try it.

I took one of the GM Gentx-177 mirrors a part today to see what they look like inside. I also changed the color of the temperature & compass read out.
What color you ask.... RED!
I will work on the Nissan mirror tomorrow to swap it out to red also.

I don't know the year. It's a Nissan rogue. Sorry I don't know these vehicles. It's a newer model though.

I swapped the Nissan home-link mirror out today in my 71. I made the read out to RED! What did you expect.



I also mated the factory 71 mount to the new mirror. It's not perfect but it does work. I'd like to find a shop to try and make a few mounts for them and have them as a option.

I made a smaller adapter for the truck mirror. This will work I think.

so the gm sensor doesnt work with the nissan mirror? needs nissan sensor?
i grabbed a couple nissan mirrors a few months ago because they all were in 1 package with compass, temp and homelink but havent installed them yet. i grabbed a couple gm sensors thinking they would work.
also, how did you change the color display?

also i think mine came from 2008 nissan suv rogue or frontier i cant remember exactly

Correct you have to get the Nissan probes for the temperature to read right. Each manufacture has it's own probe from what I have read and saw in the yard. The GM probes will read but they will be way off. I'm not a expert on this but I'm learning. I've been reading and experimenting on mine. To change the readout color you have to take the mirror a part and peel the C&T cover off, then I use the red tail light film from O-Reillys to make it red. I tried using the amber but it didn't work as good. Look at the pictures above and you can see the film that you just peel off of the mirror read out. You can leave it off and it's much brighter also.

I'm also working on a mirror to go in my 64 SS Impala if I could find one with everything inside the mirror. I don't want the compass stuff on the windshield mount. I want a GenTX 453 mirror it has everything inside the mirror.

Here is the 10 pin connector it works with both mirrors. Gen 313 & Gen 453. The wire colors maybe different but the wires are doing the same functions.
The Gen 313 mirror has the compass on the window mount like a GM mirror.

The Gen 453 has everything inside the mirror housing. Makes for much cleaner look.
Plus I can make a mount for it to use the factory mirror mounts in about any vehicle also. The 4th picture is in my 64 SS Impala. The last picture is a factory 71 C-10 mount.

I love the idea of the GenTX 453 mirror. What is it out of and what years? I will go junk yarding tomorrow and get me one for Christmas.
