Radiator mount support

Hi,
In the final stage putting together the my 1967 Chevy c10 pickup, and have run into a problem. the radiator mount support mount holes are way larger than the bolts, the mounting holes dementions is ( 1" 3/16 diameter) and the mounting bolts is ( 7/16 ) lots of play. I've received the mounting bolt kit for that year. further reviewing shows the 1969 kit has a rubber mount that goes directly into the hole and seat tightly in the hole ( no give while in the hole).
Has anybody experienced this problem and if so, how was it remedied ?.

Re: Radiator mount support

How about a rubber grommet you could slip in there and then slides the bolt through.
Most and good hardware store has them.

Re: Radiator mount support

You have to use the earlier core support bushings on the 67's

Re: Radiator mount support

The over sized hole you asked about is for side to side adjustment of the front end sheet metal alignment.

I'm thinking of using the rubber bushing for a 1969 which is cone shaped and will fit tightly into the hole or make a metal bush to seat in the hole. thanks a lot

thanks,
presently looking at that thought, but so far unable to find any strong grommet material. having to consider the bushing being used for the 1969 Chevy mounts. thanks

Re: Radiator mount support

The 69-72 rad mount holes are larger and sit lower. The 67- 68 are smaller and sit higher. The top frame pics was a 70 the bottom pic was a 68.

Re: Radiator mount support

That is why the cushions are different from 67-68 and 69-72.
