Looooong truck spotted today

Saw this in town and had to drive around the block to get a better look. This is not photoshopped...
Enjoy.

Re: Looooong truck spotted today

It looks like a well-done job.

If it were me, I'd have made a pretty good attempt to find and talk to the owner.

Re: Looooong truck spotted today

There was one with a 10 foot bed i found one time on I believe ebay. As I had 2 trucks, and thought about building one with a 10 foot bed too. I found that, and didn't go with it.

The one I saw online was restored, and used by a exhaust shop to haul 10 foot sticks of exhaust pipe.

Re: Looooong truck spotted today

A ten foot bed with appropriate wheelbase would have sure been nice to carry one of those old ten foot Alaskan campers, so it doesn't have to hang out on the tailgate.

OTOH, a flat bed with side boxes would work as well or better.

That is a cool looking 4X4 truck and looks to be well done! I wouldn’t want one but it’s cool as Alaska.

Re: Looooong truck spotted today

Back in the '70s I remember a guy had a C20 or C30 single wheel pickup that was stretched the length of this truck with tandem axles. The body was done right for the wheel opening, the wheels were inline. It was that green like medium olive with 6 chrome spoke wheels. I got into siding contracting so I was hauling 12' boxes with the tailgate down all the time. I always wanted to build a longer truck. I ended up building a 157" DRW '70 cab & chassis with an 11' low-profile utility body. Never got to do the loooong bed I dreamed of

Re: Looooong truck spotted today

I'm becoming a little obsessed about how quirky and unique these are.

If a guy was going to build one and take it to a show & shine, what would be a cool thing to haul in it? An idea for something period correct would be even better.

As stated before, ten foot Alaskan Camper.

Close the tailgate behind it. Add a couple of those webbing lawn chairs in the extra space.
