Re: New project 65 GMC
Plans are to pull the chassis, clean, paint and rebuild front and rear suspension. Ls swap it, Clean up the interior, fix the rust through and new body mounts and window seals, roll it like I stole it.

Re: New project 65 GMC
A little progress.
All front sheet metal is removed, front suspension removed and burb is up on jack stands to build the front suspension and rebuild rear brakes and check out the differential too. See if seals are needed or worse Seats are removed to prep for reupholster but first strip, blast and paint. I have almost every part to get this to roller status with all new suspension. I just need time to do the work. Back injury has taken a toll on how long I can work on it tho. Once it’s a roller, it’s off to the body shop for a couple rust repairs. Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: New project 65 GMC
Nice score! Looks complete. Does it still have all the window locks? Those things are gold....

Re: New project 65 GMC
I got the rear brakes replaced, new drums ( 72 K10) worked like a charm!
Now, im going for the front. I have drilled the holes(2) and elongated(2), other 10 line up fine. I went with an 87 suburban front suspension because it was cheap and available. I found a bit of rust through on the DS toe board just up from the clutch pedal. Rear bumper is bent up pretty good on one side, i may take that and try to get it repaired. picked up a LM7\4l60E from a local guy, will be sprucing it up a bit too. gonna take the trans to a friend for a once over. I think that's all the updates for today.

Re: New project 65 GMC
Front cradle is bolted in,, lower a-arms are in place, rear shocks and rear brake lines replaced.
I had a BTR stage II cam put in the 5.3, trans freshend up too. I will start the front brakes and all next weekend. Finally got the parts I needed. Will also drop the stock tank for the new CPP FI tank when it gets here. Stripped the seats and will send out to blast and paint. Going with gloss fawn on the seats and eventually semi gloss fawn on the interior. Posted via Mobile Device |
