Rare 1961 Chevrolet “Peep” Truck
In late 1960, the chief engineer for the GM Truck Division, J.K Rabbit, designed the very first performance FCT (Full Cargo Truck). It was christened the “Peep” amid much celebration among the GM brass.
With a 140” bed and dual fold down ramps, the design was a happy mix of comfort and hauling. An optional basket lift could be ordered for the bed under Code 1121. “This basket lift has been a popular feature”, said GM marketing director, Eagg Hunter. The trucks were fitted with the legendary 409 “W” engine that churned out 425 HP with the two 4-Barrel Quadrajets. The engine performed best on 100% Methane from Range Free Bulls distilled near Cottontail, Michigan. The president of the Ford Motor Company at that time, E. Ster Bunny II, was hopping mad that GM had beaten them to market. He felt like a fool. The Chevy “Peep” was released on April 1, 1960 with a production run of 2020. Inquiring minds just need to know... POP

I'd say that's a custom job.

Those are incredibly rare. They collapsed like marshmallows when in an accident.

Re: Rare 1961 Chevrolet “Peep” Truck
If you were driving long distances you needed to buy the special option dual seat fuel collection kit part # FAR-t101. , Some said the 409 dual quads were needed if you didn't have access to the # FAR-t101 and had to get back home fast to refill the tank with Methane . I heard they were real popular with bean farmers

Nicely done on the photochop. Halfway between a c10 and a rampside. I like it!

Re: Rare 1961 Chevrolet “Peep” Truck
Very difficult to service the blinker fluid in the hood-mounted turn signals. That's what led to the type's ultimate discontinuance.

found it. I always wanted to try and make it so that one of those Big truck shorter hoods fit by shortening the fenders some how.

Re: Rare 1961 Chevrolet “Peep” Truck
My uncle's friend's wife's brother had one of those.
I was going with it until I read about the Ford president. I think that was our 'sign'. I just now saw this thread and it was the 2nd before I realized the 1st had passed w/o experiencing any April Fools nonsense. "April 1st, the day all kinds of stupid **** gets said"? Only the one day? You're lucky. I hear that about every day
