Re: Carburetor rebuild service

Don't know around here but I sent mine to https://quadrajetpower.com/

They have a rather long wait time - I might get mine in May. Luckily the one on my truck is not horrible and will do me just fine until I get mine back from quadrajetpower.

I've got a local place here in Jacksonville, NationalCarburetors.com, they say $229 to rebuild, and 3-7 days. QuadrajetPower says $350 and 20 weeks...

Are they really THAT good? Looking forward to hearing your thoughts when you get yours Rich.

LOL I hope so too - at least I could drive down to them (about a hour away from me) if I have problems ;-)

Re: Carburetor rebuild service

Guys like Mark at Quadrajet Power go into the carburetor deeper than a lot of quick turnaround builders do. If you buy the books by Ruggles and others, you will see the difference. They tear into a carburetor further than most. Ruggles races an award-winning Pontiac with a Q-Jet.

I bought a reman Quadrajet from National Carburetors for my 68 327. With a little tweaking, runs pretty decent out of the box. Quick shipping too. I also bought a reman Quadrajet from O'rellies and Summit Racing. I couldn't keep the one from Summit running long enough to tinker with it.

I ordered a few parts from Quadrajet Power and the have excellent shipping response. I'm looking for someone to rebuild my original Quadrejet as well. I haven't decided yet, but am strongly considering National Carburetors as well.

X2!!!
Cliff has quit building carbs. He still, and plans to sell parts for Quadrajets for some time...
The parts he sells you (if you let him help you calibrate your carb correctly) are tailored to calibrate your to to the specific needs of your engine. It's a crap shoot with the rest of the carb builders, except for Quadrajet power...

Mark at Quadrajet Power is the ONLY company that Cliff endorses for building a Quadrajet.

A great deal of the work CLiff used to do was reworking Quadrajets that came from parts stores, and every builder mentioned in this thread and a ton of others. It's the reason he ONLY endorses Quadrajet Power...

Don't be in a hurry!

I used National Carburetor too. Purchased a Quadrajet and a Holley, both ran great right out the box. The quadrajet needed smaller jets to pass CA smog but fired right up, idled nice & accelerated without hesitation.

Re: Carburetor rebuild service

Years ago I used to use The Carburetor Shop in Ontario CA. Did several for customers. Out of the box, fuel to it, they would idle and run great. Don't know if they are as good as the used to be, but I had great luck.

If you watch Vice Grip Garage, Derek recommended The Carburetor Shop in Forest Lake, Minnesota on a recent build.
