Door alignment question - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

My driver side door is out of alignment, (it hangs low at the rear of the door. The hinges are good and the striker is new). I need to loosen the lower hinge where it bolts to the cab so I can move the door to the rear. My main question is, can this be done without removing the fender or is that the only way? TIA

Yes you can just take the door off.

I was trying to avoid doing that, but looks like that is my only option.

You can do it with the door on, I did. I had taken my doors off to replace the hinge with new ones. Then of course the doors needed adjustments. I was adjusting just about everything. The hinge bolts to the fender, hinge bolts to the door and the striker bolt. I finally got it right. The doors close very nice now, and they the lines look good and flush.

I ended up shimming the bottom hinge about 1/16th of an inch and it worked perfect!

Wished I would have know about these. I made due, but this could have made the job a bit easier.

I got them on Amazon but I also have a few box end wrenches I put a vise heated and bent them .
