There is a hole in the back of the intake, that is what the brake booster hose hooks to. If it is open, then plug it. It really should go to the booster and the middle hose on top of the intake should go to the PCV valve on the left valve cover.

Thanks LS appreciate you hanging in with me Should there be something to attach the hose to at the circled area. For kicks I put duct tape across that hole and it wouldn’t run then. Take it off and it runs for a little bit then dies. What do you think about the open headers and maybe the O2 sensors causing it to run rich then signaling the computer to kill the fuel?

Computer won't pull all the fuel out of it and cause what you're experiencing. My guess is the IAC was trying to compensate sor the massive vacuum leak by closing completely off, and now its just in the fully closed position and will tale some time to learn its correct position again.

There should be a round part that the booster hose nipple goes into. It will have a red retainer part on it that you push in to release the nipple. If thats missing, you may need an intake because the whole fitting won't just come out, so maybe its broken?

Success!!!! The combination of proper connections and adding 3 temporary feet of extra exhaust cured the problem, runs smooth and steady now. Thanks for all the help and now time to tie up the loose ends and do some shakedown cruises.
