It is a nice looking truck. It's extremely clean.

The cab and front clip are pretty nice, but not rust free. It really looks better in these pictures than it really is.

Dropped off a nice set of inner fenders and a nice core support at the sand blasters today. They are pretty backed up and said it could take up to a week to get them done. Im not a huge fan of powder coating but Im getting a decent deal on having it done. So from the blasters to the coaters.

I better get that front end off and get everything detailed and ready for the "new" parts.

Had yesterday off so I got a little done. Went to the dollar store and bought a couple of cans of oven cleaner. Went to the auto parts store and picked up some more Super Clean.

Pulled the truck out in to the sun and let it get warm. Popped the hood and covered the carb and distributor.

The frame and rear end were actually pretty clean already. Had a lot of tree junk on them, some stubborn chunks of tar, and a bit of grease around the usual places.

I coated the whole back half liberally with oven cleaner. I sprayed down the engine compartment with Super Clean. Next I went to town with the power washer!

Really hard to tell in the pics, but the frame and rear is much cleaner. Im going to brush paint it with some paint Ive been using on my stuff for a long time. I found it at the swap meet. Fella had a booth set up and showed sample of it painted over surface rust, nothing flaky. Looked great and really holds up. The unfortunate part is that I dont have much left. I had planned on getting more at the swap meet, but it was cancelled because of Covid. And lastly, the label is gone haha! Ill do what I can.

I didnt go too crazy on the engine compartment. I didnt want to blast any thing off that I wouldnt be able to figure out where the heck it went. I was super careful around the factory cruise control parts. Bummer to mess that up.

Not a ton worth adding. I had the nice core support, a pair of inner fenders, and the seat bottom sand blasted. I decided to get them painted instead of powder coated. I dropped all of it at a friends and he's going to lay a coat of the correct primer over the bare metal. Trying to keep the dollar intake down and fix the jinky stuff that's rusted and such in a less expensive way. I'm going to spray bomb it when he's done. When I actually get it on the road and super reliable Ill make the decision to keep or move it down the road. If I keep Ill blow it apart and do a better job on the sheet metal.

I coated the back half of the frame with that rust converter primer sorta stuff, I know the local tractor restoration guys love it. And better yet, I found another gallon I had squirreled away. When dry its a nice coating to paint over. I got a gallon of Rustoleum for a buck at work because the can was damaged. Its shiny black and I prefer semi flat, but beggars cant be choosers lol.

Do to health/motivation blah blah blah issues I haven't done (almost) anything to the one ton since the last post nearly a year ago. I suppose the good thing is that I have kept it inside my shop the whole time so it hasn't been out in our Washington wet weather at all.

I've removed a few bits and pieces, removed and sold the factory cruise ... and stacked a whole bunch of stuff on and around it =)

I was out in the shop just staring at it today and it hit me. The big Monroe Swap Meet is back on come October. I wonder if I can (with family and friends help) get this thing back on the road all nice and legal, with a decent flat bed on it. Would be pretty fun to be able to load it up with parts for sale and hit the swap meet in October. So thats my goal.

Got a little done today. Cleaned off and around my work bench. Didn’t clean the shelf above because I kind of like the chaos up there. Straightened up both tool boxes inside and out. Moved my small compressor out and cleaned out behind it. And most importantly I cleaned all of grandpa’s junk off of my grandsons work bench … sorry bout that mess Jax

Looks very organized! Good call, it certainly doesn’t help your motivation when you don’t have clean work space.

Exactly right! This truck will never match your old one but it is my biggest inspiration. I look at that thread often =)
