which 205 to use?
I am trying to figure which 205 transfer case to use. I have one with a rear slip yoke output and one with a rear fixed yoke output. The frame is a long bed with a 350 sbc and a 350 trans. I will be doing some snowplowing and pulling a trailer sometimes but mainly just everyday driving. It will have a one piece driveshaft. Any advice?
Also, does anyone have the measurements of the driveshafts?

Use the fixed yoke. I wasn't aware there was even a slip yoke 205, I thought only 208's came in slip yoke varieties. Either way, go with the fixed yoke as long as you have a slip shaft.

I'd say go with the fixed yoke. The slip yoke variety was a one year only in 1980 I believe. With the fixed yoke if you ever had to drive w/ the rear driveshaft removed you will not leak gear oil all over the place. Also I believe the tail shaft of the slip-yoke 205 is aluminum.

I would agree with the others...use the fixed yoke version. I also have 2x NP205s and had to choose which one to use (one 1970 model and one 1980 model). 1980 was an interesting year for GM trucks because all 4x4 models used the NP205 regardless of what engine or transmission, BUT all were slip yoke. The slip yoke may have been used later too, but I am not sure. What made the decision simple for me was that the '70 used a front driveshaft yoke, while the '80 uses a flange, and I didn't want any unnecessary driveshaft work since my old Rockwell T221 also had a front yoke. Also, that aluminum tail cone is really big...I would have had to shorten the rear driveshaft alot. Here is a crappy pic of it, but you get the idea:
