What is this for?
I have been wondering what this is for and why it is covered up. Any ideas?

That is kind of what I was hoping for. Did they offer shoulder belts on our trucks back then?

Could you get some from a newer truck (73-87) and would they bolt up right?

Search for S10 seat belt threads.I think you will find several that tell you how to use belts from one.The originals are available repo I think but will probably be peicey.

I had a very hard time finding just the bolts for putting in shoulder belts- actually I didn't find them new or repro. I've also heard that S-10 bolts are what you need. I just used regular bolts because my truck is not a daily driver.

I used 96 ex.cab truck c1500 seat belts in my 71 . I just went to lowes and bought some grade 8 7/16 corse threaded bolts and installed them.
